Please be advised that one of our 10G Fiber optic links in Southfield were taken offline do to and upgrade by our upstream service provider. The work window was planned but UBX did not receive clear notification of this planned activity or its impact to our systems.
Private cloud clients who are served from our Southfield facility experienced two 1-2 minute outages while the fiber circuit failed over to our secondary BGP provider. All of our safe guards for this kind of activity responded correctly and all traffic transiting that circuit were properly moved over to our other connection.
We have requested that our service provider better communicate these types of work activities in the future and we apologize for the disruption it may have caused.
Please be advised between 5:30 and 5:50 PM EDT our private cloud environment experienced degraded connectivity with Telia one of our BGP4 upstream peers.
The circuit has been stable for over an hour now and our provider does not see it happening again. We believe this issue is due to an external weather advisory in the Southfield area.
Please report any problems to email@example.com for further review. If we continue to get reports of problems with Telia we will temporarily remove that fiber circuit from our BGP4 and depend on the remaining 2 upstream providers to balance our traffic load.
